Fuelled at an early age by being victim to muggers, he began a lifelong study of criminology and the psychology of thieves. In his words, “It was then I decided to become a pickpocket myself – only an honest one. I want to educate people to help them avoid becoming victims.”

Hailed a genius in his field by Derren Brown, Freedman is the only man to have picked the pockets of The Mayor of London, The Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Governor of the Bank of England. He is in great demand from businesses and Police Forces as an advisor, speaker and educator and was recently appointed by the City of London Police as the UK’s first Fraud Prevention Ambassador. He has made many TV appearances including This Morning, CNN International, The Wright Stuff, BBC Breakfast & Sky News and presented a regular slot on Channel 5’s series Police 5, demonstrating the latest scams and how to avoid them.

THEATRE NEWS (UK): EDWARD HILSUM: GENIE FLIES TO EDINBURGH FRINGE FOR DEBUT RUN AT THE VOODOO ROOMS

Be careful what you wish for…

news-edwardhilsum-8-7-15

Love Variety presents
EDWARD HILSUM: GENIE
The Voodoo Rooms, Ballroom,
19a West Register Street,
8 – 30 August 2015, 1.15pm. 50 min

news-edwardhilsimgenie-8-7-15

In this astonishing, fun-filled show for the whole family, Hilsum magically explores the themes of happiness and wish-fulfilment. Using performance skills that make him the current ‘Stage Magician of the Year’ he baffles and delights his audience by granting three wishes. But be careful what you wish for!

As Edward explains: “Our world is filled with technology and gadgets that seem amazing initially… but that feeling soon fades. The truth is that the most amazing things come from within us. This show reminds us of that.”
Edward is acknowledged by his peers as one of the brightest of the current crop of emerging magic entertainers, praised by the likes of Derren Brown, Dynamo and Troy for his charismatic dexterity and engaging persona.

“He makes you believe in real magic” Dynamo

Obsessed with puzzles and making things from a very early age, Edward’s natural desire to discover how things work led him to magic – which he admits helped to conquer his severe shyness. That child-like curiosity still shines brightly and children in particular warm immediately to his infectious passion.

“Hugely gifted” Katherine Ryan

Edward was recently awarded Stage Magician of the Year 2014 by The International Brotherhood of Magicians and co-wrote & directed the critically-acclaimed, West End show, ‘James Freeman: Man of Steal’. He recently toured the UK in the highly popular ‘Champions of Magic’.

Theatre news (UK): Derren Brown to bring Infamous show to the Palace Theatre

The multi-award winning acknowledged master of psychological illusion returns to the West End stage with his new one-man show DERREN BROWN: INFAMOUS. Following a sell-out 81-date national tour, the dark manipulator brings his unique brand of magic and mind control to the Palace Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, from June 24 to August 17.

INFAMOUS, a more ‘personal’ show, sees Derren re-united with his close collaborator and friend actor, writer Andy Nyman. He says:

“We abandoned the template that had won us a couple of Oliviers over the years for a very different feel. It’s important to us that the shows feel like something you can’t find anywhere else in theatre or entertainment: not even my own previous efforts. I’m really excited by the result. The show is a secret so I’m not giving away what’s in it, but it’s a psychological roller-coaster based around audience participation. And it’s got a real heart to it. The response on tour has been incredible, it’s all such a treat.”

Tickets go on sale Wed 10 April (see listings section for details)

Press night is Thurs 27 June, 7pm.

INFAMOUS is Derren’s 6th show since 2003 and sees him return to the Palace Theatre, nine years after his debut West End show, ‘Derren Brown Live’, in 2004. Since then he has toured every year and been watched by an estimated audience of over one million people. He has won two prestigious Olivier Awards, for SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (2006) and SVENGALI (2012), and confesses that touring is still his favourite thing to do.

Theatre News(UK): New artwork revealed for Derren Brown: Infamous

The multi-award winning acknowledged master of psychological illusion returns to the stage from March 15, 2013 with his new one-man show DERREN BROWN: INFAMOUS. With 81 dates across the UK, running until June 22, the show will demonstrate once again why Derren is one of the world’s most renowned live performers; a dark manipulator of magic and mind control.

For INFAMOUS, a more ‘personal’ show, Derren is re-united with his close collaborator and friend actor, writer Andy Nyman. He says:

“Now we’ve joined forces again, we’re very eager to make this show feel different. There was something of a template we followed with all the shows, which worked very well. It’s rather exciting and scary leaving that behind. This one should certainly have a different tone, and will mix things up a bit for those who have seen the others on TV or live”.

INFAMOUS is Derren’s 6th show since 2003. He has toured every year since then and been watched by an estimated audience of over one million people. He has won two prestigious Olivier Awards, for SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES (2006) and SVENGALI (2012), and confesses that touring is still his favourite thing to do.
